Buying a property
Protect your purchase, from contract to keys
Buying a home or investment property is one of the biggest financial decisions you’ll make. The contract you sign sets your rights, your deadlines and what happens if something goes wrong, so the best time to get advice is before you sign.
Our team has acted for buyers and for the banks that lend to them. We know what lenders need, where settlements get held up, and how to keep your purchase on track.

FAQs
Frequently asked questions
How much does conveyancing cost?
Our professional fee is fixed and quoted upfront. Use our instant quote to see it. Government and search fees are extra and apply whoever you choose. As a guide, they’re typically $300 to $400 for a house or land and $300 to $600 for a strata property.
Should I get legal advice before I sign the contract?
Yes, wherever possible. Once you sign, you may only have a short cooling-off period, and none at all if you buy at auction. A review before you sign means you can negotiate changes while you still have bargaining power.
Can you help if I’m buying in another state?
Yes. We act for buyers in every Australian state and territory. We work with you online and by phone, and you can meet us at our Oran Park office or, by appointment, in Barangaroo.
Will you work with my lender and mortgage broker?
Yes. We deal with your lender and broker directly, help you meet the lender’s requirements before settlement, and coordinate the loan funds on the day.
What’s the difference between a conveyancer and a property lawyer?
Both can handle the transfer of property. As a law firm, we can also advise on legal issues that come up along the way, such as contract disputes, trusts and SMSF purchases, guarantees and co-ownership, and every matter is supervised by a lawyer.
